Elizabeth (Betty) Hudecek, of Sylvania and formerly of Toledo, passed away on April 24, 2022 at Otterbein Sunset Village in Sylvania, Ohio.
She was born in the village of Janok in southwest Slovakia on October 30, 1919 to Joseph and Rose (Toth) Beres. Her parents brought her to the US to stay when she was fourteen years old. Betty worked at the Autolite for a few years where she met and ultimately married Rudolf (Rudy) Hudecek in 1946. She was a stay at home mom for many years. When her daughters were of school age she took a job at Cort Cosmetics down the street from her home. Betty was a long time member of St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church until it was torn down, after which she joined St. John the Baptist parish in Point Place. She was also a member of the 55 plus club. Betty was an avid bingo player, as was her husband, and enjoyed baking and sharing her famous Hungarian apricot cakes at Christmas and on other occasions with her family and friends.
Betty is survived by her daughters, Joyce (Ken) Davidson and Cindy (Art) Sherette; grandchildren, Gina Lopez, Raymond Lopez, Dawn (David) Mason, Stacy (Jeff) Malicki, Angie (Scott) Bahnsen and Matt (Amy) Sherette; great-grandchildren, Christina, Kaylee, and Raymond Paul Lopez , Jacob (Valya) Mason, Preston and Payton Burdo-Malicki, Emma Bahnsen, Cameron Sherette, and MacKenzie Kangars and sister-in-law Theresa Beres. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Rudy, brothers Bill and Richard, sister-in-law Leslie, and son-in-law Ralph Burdo.
The family would like to thank the staff at Sunset Village for all the care given to Betty. Especially those in Findlay Court.
Funeral Services will be private.
