Eleanor J. Schmidt, age 91, of Toledo, passed away Friday, December 2, 2022 at home surrounded by loving family. She was born to Leo and Clara St. Germain in Toledo and raised by Albert and Lillian Huber. Eleanor was a 1949 graduate of DeVilbiss High School. She worked at Woolworth's Department Store, Washington Local Schools and Ohio Citizens Bank throughout the years. Eleanor was a longtime member of Lutheran Church of Our Saviour and was very active in the church. She often volunteered and was involved in many church groups. Eleanor was the most giving, generous, kind soul one could meet and would help anyone in need. She had a heart of gold especially when it came to her friends and family. Eleanor looked forward to spending time with her family especially all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her smile, spirit and caring nature will truly be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to both her parents, she was preceded in death by her siblings; and her good friend, Eileen Tobian. Left to cherish Eleanor's memory are her loving children, Michelle Schmidt, Sheri Schmidt-Perry, Eric (Shearl) Schmidt and Kim Schmidt; grandchildren, Becky Brahier, Andy Brahier, Danae Perry, Dakota Perry, Aaron (Molly) Schmidt, Ashley (Andy) Moore, Tonya (Andy) Jones, Zachary (Kristen) Schmidt, and great-grandchildren, Camden, Kylee, Lucy, Grayson, Gemma, Aurora, Aleah, Alexis, Amelia, Morgan and Evelyn.
There will be Private family services held at a later date at the Chapel of Peace. Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, Toledo (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider a charity of the donor's choice.
The family would like to give a special thank you to Dr. Deborah Guntsch; also the staff and caregivers with ProMedica Hospice and Home Instead for all of their love, care and support given to Eleanor and our family throughout this journey.
