Eleanor L. Nehring, age 94 of Perrysburg, passed away at Avalon at Perrysburg on Monday, June 25, 2012. She was born on July 25, 1917 to Homer Franklin and Stella (Vance) Osborn. Eleanor retired from St. Vincent's Mercy Medical Center and following her retirement she went to work with her son at Kempo Martial Arts Center where she earned her black belt in Kempo at age 72! Eleanor enjoyed the camaraderie with students and her son at the martial arts center, where she worked until she was 92 years old.
She was previously a member of Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church and currently a member of Gloria Dei Lutheran Church. Eleanor was an avid bowler and a huge Detroit Tigers fan. Most importantly she relished the time spent with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and was very active in their upbringing.
Left to cherish her memory is her son, Tom Nehring; daughter in law, Jean Scharer; grandchildren, Angela, Tommy, Jeff and Greg; great-grandchildren, Dustin, Amber, Brendon and Braylon. In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Milton; daughter, Naomi and son, Bill.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:30 a.m. at Gloria Dei Lutheran Church, 5845 Elmer Dr., with visitation one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow in Ravine Cemetery in Sylvania.
