Elder Lee Turner, Sr.

Wilbert Lee Turner, Sr., age 75, of Toledo, passed away September 18, 2018 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo. He was born June 11, 1943 in Bessemer, Alabama to Ellis and Ida (Turner) Turner.

Wilbert is survived by his loving wife, Joyce S. (McCord) Turner; children, Elizabeth Turner, VeLisa Turner, Trudie (Bryan, Sr.) Neely, JR Turner, Joy (Donovan) Waller, Janeen Turner, Jeannette Turner and Jacqueline Turner; 17 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; siblings, Lillie Lanier, Linda Turner, Patricia Jones, Ellis (John) Edward Turner, Pamela (Andre) Threats and Gloria Dean McNairy; brothers-in-law, Robert McCord, Harold McCord and Elder James Wilkinson; aunts, Minnie Linzy, Estena (Jesse) Jones, Mary Cabbil, and Eloise Turner; uncles, Robert Sullivan Sr., and Isaiah (Josephine)Turner. In addition to his parents, Wilbert was preceded in death by his daughters, Michelle Turner, Colette Turner-Williams, grandchildren, Dayjah White and Judah Neely, great granddaughter, Dakota Smith, and brothers in law, James McCord, Donald Mc Cord and Jonathan Jones and sister-in-law, Marion Wilkinson.

Affectionately known as "Pops" and "Sweet Pappa" by many, Elder Turner enjoyed being church leader, father figure, prison minister and friend to all.

The family will receive guests Friday, September 21, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer - West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Road, Toledo (419-392-9500). The wake service will begin Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. with funeral following at 11:00 a.m. at the Worship Center, 2210 Collingwood Blvd., Toledo, Ohio 43620. Interment will follow at the Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
