Elbert Murphy, age 80, entered into eternal peace on Saturday, February 23, 2013, at Lutheran Hospital in Ft. Wayne, IN.
Elbert was born on January 8, 1933; he was the son of the late William and Sarah Jane (Pack) Murphy. He worked for Norfolk & Western Railroad before retiring from Vulcan Industries in 1986. Elbert had been a part-time driver for Dave White Chevrolet for the last seven years. He married Phyllis Jean (Bentley) on May 29, 1954 in Williamson, West Virginia. Elbert was a member of First Apostolic Church, Toledo, OH. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, baseball and being outdoors.
He was preceded in death by four brothers and six sisters. He leaves his memories to be cherished by his wife, Phyllis; children, William Murphy of Sylvania, OH Stephen (Lauren) Murphy of Chelsea, MI; Keith (Tami) Murphy of Mentor, OH and Beth Wills of Sylvania, OH and brother, Amos Murphy.
One of the greatest joys in Elbert's life was his nine grandchildren, Adam, Brandon, Luke, Sarah, Andrew, Jordan, Megan, Logan and Liam.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, February 26, 2013 from 5-9:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. with Rev. J. Mark Jordan officiating. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Apostolic Church Sunday School Department or Apostolic Christian Academy.
