Elaine Kay Law, age 59, of Toledo, passed away August 4, 2015 surrounded by her loving family after a two month illness. She will be dearly missed by her family and friends.
Kay was born August 23, 1955 to John Wood and Naomi (Oehus) Girts in Toledo. She graduated in 1973 from Whitmer High School and attended the Community and Technical College of the University of Toledo in Secretarial Studies. Kay worked faithfully as a secretary for several firms before becoming permanently disabled.
She loved knitting and crocheting afghans for family, especially for newly arrived nieces and nephews. Kay also loved creating hot pads for family and friends. She loved receiving news about her nieces and nephews.
Kay is survived by her mother, Naomi (Clarence Signs) Girts-Signs; sister, Sharon (John) Rockwell; brothers, Roger and John Girts; daughter, Jennifer; cousins, Jane Smith and Jean Wagner; dear friend, Jon Eiseman; who was always at her side; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends. She was preceded in death by her father, favorite grandma, Clara Degler; and sister-in-law, Debra Girts.
Memorial Services will be held Friday, August 7, 2015 at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 4441 Monroe St., Toledo in the Chapel with an informal gathering with the family from 11:00 – 12:00 p.m. The Newcomer Funeral Home – NW Chapel (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.
