Eileen L. Klingbeil, age 90 of Toledo, passed away on Tuesday, May 15, 2012 at Sylvania Care and Rehab Nursing Home. She was born December 19, 1921 to Robert and Katherine (Heinl) Esser in Toledo. Eileen commuted to Michigan during WWII and worked on the assembly line at the Ford Motor Willow Run Plant where she helped build B-24 Liberator Bomber Planes. She also sold homes and was a former Vice President for The Nightingale Realty Co. in the 1950's. Eileen suffered a major setback in 1962 due to surgery she had to remove a brain tumor. This contributed to her continuing battle with dementia, which ultimately took her life. Her family will remember her passion for fishing; she truly enjoyed fishing and even farmed her own worms.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia Kane and Rosemary Hessling and brother, Robert Esser Junior. Eileen is survived by her loving husband and devoted caregiver of 61 years, Alvin "Al" Klingbeil; daughter, Kathleen (Tim) MacGregor and son, Kenneth (Regina) Klingbeil; brothers, Richard (Norma Jean) Esser and Thomas (Jean) Esser; brother-in-law, James Hessling; 7 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great-grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family will receive guests Sunday from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Monday at 9:15 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m. in St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd.
