Eileen (Burns) Kearney

Eileen (Burns) Kearney, age 68, of Toledo, passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2019 at home. She was born September 16, 1950 to Leonard and Dolores (Kaczmarek) Burns in Toledo. Eileen was a proud graduate of Woodward High School in 1968. She obtained her Bachelor's Degree from Edgecliff College and her Master's Degree from Loyola College. Eileen was a Sister of Mercy for 20 years and taught at McAuley High School for many years. She was a longtime devoted member of Little Flower Catholic Church. Eileen was very active in the ACTS Movement (Adoration Community Theology Service), serving as a leader and a facilitator. She worked as a social worker in the Toledo Hospital ER for over 20 years. Eileen was a die-hard fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes. She enjoyed baking, cooking and crafting. Eileen had a very kind, generous spirit that always extended to her family, friends and community and was shown through her many acts of kindness and hospitality.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Kevin Kearney. Eileen is survived by her loving siblings, Patrick (PJ Henson) Burns, Julie (Michael) Hladio, Diane Waggoner and Kathy (Peter Nyquist) Klepacz; a host of many loving nieces, nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews and cousins; best friend, Norma Freeman and her family; canine companion, Addie; and many dear friends.

The family will receive guests on Friday, March 8, 2019 from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer – Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Memorial Mass will begin Saturday, March 9, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at Little Flower Catholic Church, 5522 Dorr St., Toledo, Ohio 43615 with visitation one hour prior before services in church. Inurnment will follow with her parents in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.
