Egar “Papang” Evangelio, age 53, recently of Toledo, longtime resident of Tiffin, OH, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 8, 2024 at the Cleveland Clinic with loving family by his side. He was born on May 23, 1971 to Leon and Rose (Estores) Evangelio in the Philippines. Egar was employed with Berry’s Global for 27 years before retiring due to his health where he was very dedicated and hard working. He was a diehard fan of the Cleveland Cavs and enjoyed watching wrestling. Egar was a car enthusiast, liked watching and attending car shows. He was one to always be up on current events and in the “know” of things. You needed to know something, Egar was your man!
Egar at heart was a true family man. He adored his nephew as his own son. Egar loved spending time with family and friends and traveling home to the Philippines, relaxing at their family beach house and resort. He was very quiet and reserved, but once you “got in his circle” you saw the extrovert in Egar. He had a huge heart, was very caring, generous and will never be forgotten. Egar’s smile, spirit and sweet demeanor will truly be missed by all who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his father, Leon Evangelio. Left to cherish Egar’s memory are his loving mother, Rose (Ken) Terry; siblings, Mario (Paula) Evangelio, Lee Evangelio, and Carina Evangelio; nephew, Leon Ross Evangelio; many aunts, uncles, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Saturday, June 15, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Rd., Toledo, OH 43617 (419-392-9500) with Funeral Services beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home.
