Edwin Slack, Sr.

Edwin A. Slack, Sr. age 82, of Toledo, passed away Monday, July 30, 2012 in his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born January 16, 1930 in Toledo to Albert and Agnes (Siedlecki) Slack. Ed served his country in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. He was employed as an Engineer for Surface Combustion, Bechtel Corp and Lathrop. Upon retiring Ed also worked for APPS Paramedical in Perrysburg, Ohio. He was a member of Riverview and Bay View Yacht Clubs, active in the Power Squadron and served as an officer at the local, district and national levels.

Left to cherish his memory is loving wife of 43 years, Joyce (Crowder) Slack; children, Edwin (Melissa) Slack, Gregory (Diane) Slack, Deborah Slack and Tami (Mark) Riegger; grandchildren, Caitlin (Bryan) Richard, Zachary, Benjamin and Thomas Riegger, Gregory II, Amy and Sara Slack and Blake McEachern; sister, Adele Reger; and numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive guests Thursday, August 2, 2012 from 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900) where a Rosary will be recited at 7:00 pm. Funeral services will begin Friday, August 3, 2012 at 9:15 am in the funeral home followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at Little Flower Catholic Church. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.

The family requests memorial contributions to Hospice of Northwest Ohio.
