Edward A Heller

December 17, 1923 — August 15, 2022

Edward Heller, age 98, met his Creator on August 15, 2022. Edward was born in Cleveland, Ohio on December 17, 1923, the son of Adolph and Mary Heller. Edward and his family later moved to Toledo, Ohio where he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering.

Edward was part of the Greatest Generation. As a United States World War II Army veteran, Edward served his country from July 1943 until February 1946 as a Portable Power Generator Operator. He was a private in Battery D, 125th Anti-aircraft Artillery Gun Battalion. He participated in the Rhineland, Ardennes and Central Europe Campaigns. During his service he received the Good Conduct Medal, American Campaign Medal, WWII Victory Medal, European-African Middle Eastern Campaign Medal with 3 Bronze Stars.

Upon returning from the war, Edward found his career in Electrical Engineering and worked for the Federal Government. During his employment, he continued to serve the U.S. Army. In 1975, he was awarded a Value Engineering Certificate of Achievement for saving the Army over 7 million dollars. In 1983, Edward received another official commendation for substantially reducing contract costs by replacing an alternator part.

Edward was fiercely independent and a quiet man. He had a strong passion for engineering and enjoyed tinkering with small projects around the house after retirement. He was a strong supporter of military veterans.

Edward was preceded in death by his long time companion, Margaret Rizk and his sister Linda Dunn (Heller). He is survived by his nephew Mark Dunn, and nieces Karen Lamb (Dunn) and Cheryl Hunt (Dunn).

Those wishing to give memorials in Edward's name are asked to consider a Veteran's Charity of their choosing.

The family would like to acknowledge the close relationship that Edward had with Margaret's family. Additionally, special thanks Priscilla Hand and Damar Jackson from Right at Home. They provided great care and most importantly, companionship.

The family will receive guests Friday August 26, 2022 at 10:00 am for a graveside service at Toledo Memorial Park, 6382 Monroe St, Sylvania, OH 43560.
