Eddie Forrester, born to the late Stanley and Wilma Forrester October 14, 1927 died May 20, 2016. He graduated Central Catholic High School and at age 17 enlisted in the U.S. Navy. Eddie served in the Pacific Theatre of World War II until 1945 and again the Korean War from 1949 to 1950.
After his Korean military service, Eddie returned to Toledo and married Theresa Roesler on December 20th, 1950. Theresa died in 2013. He attended the Toledo University and worked for the Dana Corporation for 40 years, retiring in 1987. Eddie was also a familiar face at Bowling Green Ace Hardware, working there until 2001.
Eddie enjoyed traveling, gardening and playing with his dogs. He was an avid golfer and bowler in his younger years. Most of all, he enjoyed being with his many children and grandchildren. Eddie will always be remembered for his cheerful disposition and ever present smile. He kept a positive outlook on life even during the terrible personal tragedies he faced this past year.
Eddie was a great and giving father to his sons, Tim (Elaine) Forrester, Mike (Sandi) Forrester; and daughter, Teri Lisinski. He will also be missed by 12 grandchildren, Amanda, Ben, Lauren, Erin, Tom, Sean, Craig, Sarah, Christopher, Angelyne, Elise and Cecily; and 16 great-grandchildren.
Eddie's family will welcome visits from friends on Wednesday, May 25th, 2016 from 2:00 – 6:30 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). A Memorial Service will begin at 6:30 p.m. that evening for Eddie.
