Edward Bernard Conliss, III, age 90, a lifelong resident of Toledo, passed away Monday, January 4, 2021 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo. He was born September 13, 1930 in Toledo to Edward, II and Martha (Jacobs) Conliss. Ed was a graduate of Woodward High School, Class of 1949. He went on to attend the University of Toledo. Ed started his working career with Woolson Spice Company, which was the second largest spice company in the world. He then went on to work for a local Utility Company. After some time Ed became a driver for Marathon Oil for 10 years. He completed his professional career at Champion Spark Plug where he was an Inspection Supervisor for 25 years. Ed also served his country proudly in the US Air Force during the Korean War.
After retiring, Ed enjoyed spending time in his vegetable garden where he grew his much admired tomatoes. He also got to spend more time selling and trading all kinds of items at several local Flea Markets.
Growing up, Ed exhibited an artistic talent painting. He studied at the Toledo Museum of Art where he received several certificates and accolades for several of his paintings. While Ed didn't pursue further studies in Art, he continued to paint beautiful murals in his home and on special gifts for his family.
In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Annette (Koepke) Conliss. Ed is survived by his son, Edward (Kathy) Conliss, IV; granddaughter, Kim (Chris) Dippman and sister, Bernadine Blasingim. His memory will also be cherished by many nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
Due to the current pandemic there will not be a public gathering at this time. Entombment will be at Toledo Memorial Park, Sylvania, OH.
