Edna Mae Riggs was born August 11, 1932 in Jackson, Mississippi to the late Edmond Dyse and Annie Mae Stewart. She passed away October 4, 2021 at Foundation Park Alzheimer Care Center, Toledo OH.
Edna was united in holy matrimony to Hershel Riggs Jr. on May 5, 1977.
She worked for the Toledo Towel Co. for 33 years, retiring in 1995.
Edna was a longtime member of Galilee Missionary Baptist Church (MBC), serving with the nurse's guild. After joining Mt. Pilgrim M.B.C Edna continued to enjoy her church activities especially the City-Wide Missionary Fellowship services, until the onset of her illness.
Among other things, Edna enjoyed baking (especially her delicious lemon cake) and pampering her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by both parents Edmond and Annie; sister, Marjorie; brother, Walter; a son; daughter, Joyce; and grandson, Johnathan.
She leaves to cherish her loving memory, Husband, Hershel Jr.; brother, Calvin; daughter, Laverne; sons, Tommy, Elbert and Hershel III; 6 grandchildren, Tammy, Ronald, Bobby, Rose, Anthony, Lei'Ana; 17 great-grandchildren; and 4 great-great-grandchildren.
The family will receive guests Saturday, October 16, 2021 from 11:00 am - 12:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Saturday at 12:00 pm. at the funeral home followed by a burial at Woodlawn Cemetery.
