Edna M. Roth, age 85, passed away Tuesday, March 16th, 2010 at MediLodge of Monroe. She was a longtime resident of Ohio, moving to Michigan in 1973. Edna was born March 12th, 1925 to Edward and Ruth (Netcher) Leonard in Neapolis, Ohio. Edna attended and received her Bachelor of Science degree in medical technology from The University of Toledo. While going to college Edna served her internship with Wayne State's former Eloise Hospital and also worked at the former Riverside Hospital. She went on to work for the former Mercy Hospital as a Registered Medical Technologist for 32 years. Edna was a member of Alpha Delta Gamma Sorority and Zion Lutheran and Christ Lutheran Churches. After retiring from Mercy Hospital, Edna enjoyed boating, fishing and taking long trips in search of antique tractors and railroads throughout the country. She also enjoyed preparing special meals for her family. Most importantly Edna treasured the time she was able to spend with her family and friends, especially her lifelong friend, Angie and her family. Edna was a member of the American Society of Medical Technologists, the Bedford Senior Center and the Toledo Lake Erie & Western Railroad, where she and her husband Fred enjoyed volunteering on the Blue Bird Express.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Alvin Pfisterer; son, Alan Pfisterer and siblings, George Leonard; Wilma Zaleski; Duane Leonard and Audrey Leonard. Edna is survived by her loving children, Ronald and Conrad Pfisterer and Beverly (Michael) Schell; husband, Frederick Roth; step children, James (Gail) Roth; David Roth; Pat Broome; Larry (Cathy) Roth and Joanne Smalley; siblings, Virgina Hoover; Delano Leonard; Bill Leonard; Patricia Myers; Donald Leonard and Rita Morrin; grandchildren, Nicholas; Jason; Andrew; Alexandria and Angelina and great grandson, Jayden.
The family will receive guests Thursday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Al Nelson. Interment will follow at Toledo Memorial Park.
