Edgar Robert Apt, age 58, of Toledo, will no longer be cooking us breakfast burritos. On November 15, 2014 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio Toledo he served his last meal. Edgar was born July 24, 1956 in Toledo to Kenneth Apt and Anna Klug. He grew up with his brother John (Nancy) Marok and sister Sylvia (Jim) Pokrywka who lovingly referred to him as Punky. His sister took very good care of him with the help of his grandmother Auguste Klug. However, his brother made sure he became a strong man by giving him big brother hazing. During his wild days he had the pleasure to meet his elder sister Brigitte (Wolfgang) Moebus who was visiting from Germany.
Ed's life abruptly changed when he became a dad to April (Todd) Engard and Julie (Bernie) Merritt. Now, Ed had his excuse to buy every toy of his dreams. He played with them all the time and even shared with his two daughters. He always played well with others. Ed refused to grow up but his daughters eventually did. His daughters gave him four new playmates to keep him young, Ryan, Brayden, Henry, and Isla or AKA I-Lee. Grampy spoiled these children rotten; giving them gumballs, pop, and bags of chips upon every visit.
Ed had to be employed at Jeep for more than 30 years to entertain the other employees. When not working, he loved to go to the boat and party with friends and family.
The family will receive guests Thursday, November 20, 2014 from 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - NW Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Celebrations of Edgar's life will begin Thursday at 6:00 pm. in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers please donate a toy for a child at Christmas or adopt a pet from a shelter.
