Earnest Eugene Smith

Earnest Eugene Smith, age 78, of Whitehouse, passed away December 10, 2021 at home, surrounded by family. Earnest was born December 30, 1942 in Bluefield, WV to Lawrence and Nellie (Walters) Smith. He was employed with the Navy as the Chief Petty Officer for more than 30 years. He earned four Good Conduct Medals, one National Defense Service Medal, Med Service Medal, and Good Conduct Medal with 4 stars while serving in the Navy. Earnest was an avid bowler becoming member of the United States Bowling Association in 1960, in Defiance, Ohio.

In addition to his parents, Earnest was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 52 years, Eleanora (Morgan) Smith. He is survived by his Son, Rick (Terri) Smith; Daughters, Vangeleen Kersey and Leanora (David) Norwood; Step-Daughters, Brenda (Larry) Said and Mary (Sam) Tilley; 8 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren. The family will receive guests Wednesday, December 15, 2021, from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions- Southwest Chapel, (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 10:00 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Wauseon Union Cemetery, 15165 OH-2 Wauseon, OH 43567.
