Earl W. Hoag

May 22, 1931 — January 14, 2018

Earl W. Hoag, 86, of Toledo, Ohio and formerly of Petersburg, MI has went to his final resting place to be with his wife, Janet of 60yrs on January 14, 2018. He was born May 22, 1931 to William and Caroline, who precede him in death. Earl was a veteran of The United States Marine Corps earning a purple heart while serving during the Korean War. Once he returned home he married his beautiful wife Janet (Brunk) on November 6, 1954.

Earl opened up his own business Hoag's Clock and Cabinet Shop with his eldest son Bill, until he retired. He was known to be a "Jack of all trades". Earl leaves a legacy of jokes, smart remarks, helping hands, and a warm heart! Never did a day go by that he didn't have something smart to say, putting smiles on many faces. Earl enjoyed working puzzles, collecting antiques, and attending church every Sunday. He was also an avid Dallas Cowboys fan. Earl was a very strong but sensitive person inside and out, and will be truly missed. Besides his parents, sisters Shirley, and Judith, along with son-in-law Patrick Nusser precede him in death. Earl is survived by his children, William (Kathy), Robert, Sherri Nusser. Grandchildren William, Amanda Morse, and Alexis Hoffman. Great grandchildren, Chyanna Shively, Kylie Oswalt. Sister Betty (Jack) Wilmarth.

Private graveside services with full military honors will be held Saturday January 20, 2018 at 11:00am Pastor Robert Fry officiating. A celebration of life will be held at The Toledo Sailing Club on Broadway St near the zoo from 2:00pm - 5:00pm the same day.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to help offset expenses that can be made to Heritage Church of God on Strayer, or on Facebook where a GOFUNDME account has been set up by his granddaughter Alexis.
