Earl E. Thomas, age 69, of Toledo, went to be with his Lord on his birthday, Monday, November 20, 2006 in the Toledo Hospital. Earl was born November 20, 1937 to Osby and Wilma (Manley) Thomas in Toledo. He was employed with General Motors for 40 years. After retiring Earl became a Passport driver for the East Toledo Family Center for 9 years and loved the opportunity. He was an active and devoted member of Mended Hearts, Chapter 100 and the Sylvania Baptist Church. Earl was a former member of Fassett Street Church. In 1999 Earl was fortunate to take a trip to Israel with the Sylvania Baptist Church Men's Ministry Group. Earl saw himself as a servant to his Lord and was happy to give of himself and his time to anyone in need. He was a master of many trades including electrical work, remodeling and much more. And it was with these abilities that Earl enjoyed helping and teaching others. He enjoyed being with people and through his kind words of encouragement and actions he touched many lives in very meaningful and heartfelt ways. Everyone who had the privilege of knowing him will keep his memory close in their hearts.
Earl was preceded in death by his father, Osby Thomas and mother, Wilma Osborn. He is survived by his loving wife, Joann L. (Strub) Thomas; children, Frank E. (Angela) Thomas; Gary L. (Tammy) Thomas; Teresa M. (Kevin) Weese and James E. Thomas; sisters, Deanna Wells; Claudia Halliday; Becky and Brenda; stepchildren, Robert (Denise) Boisselle; William (Deborah) Boisselle; Terri (Tim) Narges; Tamara (Gerald) Ludwig and Thomas (Tracy) Boisselle; former stepsons, Jason (Wendy) McCoy and Brent (Melissa) McCoy. Earl is also survived by many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; extended family and dear friends.
The family will receive guests Friday from 2-8:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will be Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastors Donald Reynolds and Donald Black. Interment will follow in Swanton Centerville Cemetery, Swanton, Ohio.
