Dustin Lentz, 31, passed away peacefully on November 17th 2016 at the Sandusky Veteran's Home after a long struggle with adrenomeyloneuropathy (AMN), a rare genetic disorder. Dustin was born to Glen and Patti Lentz (Perrysburg, OH) on August 17th, 1985. Dustin graduated from Perrysburg High School/Penta in 2003. After graduation Dustin enlisted in the U.S. Marine Corps. He learned the skills of an Expeditionary Airfield Systems Technician which he used during his two tours in Iraq in 2004 and 2006. While in the service Dustin received over 10 accommodations, some including: Marine Corps Good Conduct Metal, Iraq Campaign Metal, National Defense Service Medal and Certificate of Commendation. After serving our country for 4 years Dustin attended the Universal Technical Institute in Florida and earned a certification in small engine and diesel repair. Not long after he graduated his health began to decline and he moved back to Ohio to be closer to family.
Dustin is survived by his parents, Glen and Patti Lentz; sister, Laura (Mike Scaparrotti) Lentz; brother, Derek Lentz; grandmother, Corky Orton; aunts and uncles, Denise (Jim) Facemyre; Dennis (Jacquie) Lentz and Kathy (Dennis) Duffey. Dustin was preceded in death by his grandparents, William Orton and Milton and June McGuckin; and uncles, Floyd and godfather, Phil Lentz.
The family will receive guests, Sunday, November 20, 2016 from 2:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900) where members of the Marine Corps League Lou Diamond Detachment will hold services at 7:00 pm. Funeral Services will begin Monday at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Military Honors will follow in Toledo Memorial Park Cemetery.
