Durrell D. Benson

Durrell D. Benson, age 36, of Toledo, passed away suddenly Sunday, February 27, 2022. He was born in Long Beach, CA to Angela Salter and Mark Benson. In 1992 he moved to Toledo, OH where he was a student of First Church of God, Riverside Elementary, Leverette Jr. High, Woodward High School and a 2004 graduate of the Life Skills Center.

Durrell loved and lived life to the fullest. He loved cooking and music. Durrell touched many lives, yet if you truly knew him, you knew he was a force to be reckoned with. If you were wrong he was going to tell you, there was no in between because he was never wrong.

Durrell is survived by his mom, Angela Benson; dad, Mark Benson; brother, DeVaughn (Crystal) Salter; sisters, Marshon (Amos) Lee, Michelle Johnson, Paige Stigall and Jade Benson; children, Cassandra "Cassie" Foster, Jo'Ron Moore, Ja'May Benson, Brandon Pratt and one on the way; grandchildren, Issabella, Christopher and Durrell; grandparents, Mary Louise Nichols and Betty Carol Evans; favorite cousin, Natalie Dominque; special friend, Demetria "Meechie" Massengill; a host of nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and many additional friends he considered his brothers and sisters.

He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, Abraham L. Salter, Sr. and Julius C. Benson, Sr.

There will be no visitation at this time for Durrell and the family will have a Celebration of Life honoring him at a later date. Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, Toledo (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.
