Wilbur E. "Duke" Dilbone, Jr., age 61, of Ottawa Lake, MI, passed away very suddenly at Flower Hospital in the Emergency Room where he was surrounded by his loving family and dear friends. He was born on July 21, 1954 to Wilbur E., Sr. and Bertha (Preston) Burton in Toledo. Duke worked for many years for the Doehler-Jarvis Co. and most recently he was a mechanic for over 25 years at Bohl Equipment. He currently serves as Chairman of UAW Local 12 and he was the former President of Black Swamp Cruisers in Toledo, OH. One of his true passions was drag racing, he was an avid drag racer for over 40 years. Duke was a proud patriot and a devoted supporter of military causes such as POW-MIA.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his son, Micheal A. Dilbone. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 40 years, Suzanne C. "Suzy" (Bacon) Dilbone; children, April Dilbone (Pete Regits) and Kimberly Skinner; three loving grandchildren, Jazmine, Marvin III and Michael; two sisters; and a host of additional relatives and dear friends.
Per Duke's request and as a final tribute to him and his passion for racing, for all of his dear friends to please select and bring a racing sticker to be placed on his casket.
The family will receive guests on Thursday, June 9, 2016 from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin in the funeral home on Friday, June 10, 2016 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Andy Hill officiating. Interment will follow in Whiteford Union Cemetery.
