Duane passed away on May 18, 2018. He is survived by his loving sister, Shelby Jean Farrier and her husband Jim. Duane grew up in Toledo, where he graduated from Libbey High School. He attended several colleges, including The Ohio State University. Upon graduation from college, Duane moved to Chicago, where he lived and worked for over three decades. Duane was an English teacher for many years at Fenwick High School, in the Chicago suburb of Oak Park. After his retirement, Duane returned to Toledo, where he resided for the past several years.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Edmund and Edna Langenderfer. In addition to his sister and brother-in-law, he is survived by first cousins including Lillian Hassen and Stan Lewandowski.
Friends may visit at Newcomer Funeral Home Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. Toledo, OH 43614, beginning at 11:00 a.m., on May 23, 2018, or join the family for a graveside service at Toledo Memorial Park, at 12:15 p.m. Duane's family wishes to thank the kind staff of the Elizabeth Scott Community for their care and concern during his illness. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Toledo.
