Duane Drouillard, a cherished family man, passed away on October 30, 2024 in Sylvania, Ohio. Born on November 8, 1947, in Toledo, Ohio, Duane lived a life characterized by dedication, warmth, and a genuine appreciation for the goodness in others.
For an impressive 44 years, Duane worked at Libbey Glass, where he not only enjoyed his profession, but also fostered meaningful relationships with his coworkers who became life-long friends. His personality shone through as he found joy in his work and took delight in the camaraderie of those around him.
Duane proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, a testament to his commitment and bravery. He carried this sense of duty into his everyday life, embodying values of integrity and respect that inspired those fortunate enough to know him.
A man who always found the good in people, Duane was known for his remarkable ability to find humor in life's quirks and to give everyone the benefit of the doubt. His friends and family will fondly remember the laughter and good times shared over a cold beer, celebrating life’s moments both big and small.
Duane had a deep passion for classic cars, most notably his prized 1950 Mercury Coupe. His love for the Detroit Tigers and Ohio State Buckeyes was unwavering, and he cherished peaceful days spent at the lake with family and friends, listening to music and creating lifelong memories.
The highlights of Duane’s life were undoubtedly his family. He is survived by his devoted wife of 55 years, Kathleen Drouillard; his son Scott Drouillard and significant other Amanda Daughtry, and son Brent Drouillard; his granddaughter, Maya Drouillard; and his grandson, Colton Drouillard. He is also remembered by his sister, Diane Silver, and brother, Ronald Drouillard. Duane took immense pride in his children whom he regarded as his proudest accomplishments and grandchildren, whom brought joy into his life.
A gathering to honor Duane’s life will take place on November 7, 2024, from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM, followed by a memorial service commencing at 6:00 PM. Both events will be held at Newcomer Funeral Home, Northwest Toledo, located at 4150 W Laskey Rd, Toledo, Ohio. Following the memorial service, family and friends will gather to celebrate Duane's life over at Incorvaia's, 4751 Monroe St. Toledo, OH 43623, all are welcome to attend.
Duane Drouillard will be profoundly missed, but his spirit and the joy he brought into the lives of others will continue to live on in the hearts of those who loved him.
