Stephen Phillip Camacho, MD, 41, of Holland, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly on November 29, 2014.
Born March 6, 1973 in Toledo, OH to Abelardo and Flora Camacho, Stephen was a dedicated son, father and husband. He has close ties to the Toledo community having graduated from St. Joan of Arc Elementary School then St. John's Jesuit High School. He received his combined Bachelor's Degree and Medical Degree from Kent State University and Northeastern Ohio University College of Medicine in 1997. He completed Family Practice residency at Shadyside Hospital in Pittsburgh, PA. He settled into practice in Sylvania, OH at Flower Family Physicians where he served as assistant residency director. He later joined Toledo Clinic Family Practice in Holland, Oh. He simultaneously served as Medical Director of Spring Meadows Senior Community. He was a member and councilor for The Academy of Medicine of Toledo & Lucas County, serving in the role of liaison in the Academy mentorship program. He was a board member for SCORE, the humanitarian foundation of the Filipino Association of Toledo. He was active in the St. Joan of Arc community.
He was generous with his time and talents to family, friends, patients, and colleagues. He was passionate about life from cooking, camping, singing, fishing, tennis, basketball, cycling, soccer, and running. He could be found cheering on his boys and the team of Kodiak Attack Wrestling. He traveled the world from Honduras to the Philippines serving on medical missions.
He is preceded in death by his brother, Mar Aquilles. He is survived by his parents, Abelardo and Flora, his wife, Jennifer and his 5 "macho" boys, Brandon, Alex, Derek, Jack, Archer, stepchildren, Joey, Cody, and Ashlyn; bull mastiff, Zena; sister Marissa (Ben) DeJesus, their girls Addison, Cassidy, Gabriella and brother, Edgar (Sharon) Camacho and their kids Julia and Christopher.
Visiting hours are from 4-8 pm, December 4th and December 5th at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH. The Funeral Mass will be held December 6, 2014 10:30 AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 5856 Heatherdowns Blvd, Toledo, OH.
In lieu of flowers, there is a Memorial Fund at FifthThird Bank in Stephen's name.
