On September 12, 2021, Douglas King Jordan cast off his lines and set sail on a course for the heavenly seas. He was 83 years old. He was born on April 27, 1938 in Toledo, Ohio to Samuel and Josephine (McElwee) Jordan. Douglas graduated from DeVilbiss High School in 1956 and entered the army reserves. He went on to attend The University of Toledo, and was an active member of the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity. Upon graduating with a Bachelor of Arts and Education, he taught at Northwood High School. He then attended The University of Toledo College of Law, earning his Juris Doctorate Degree. He practiced law for over 51 years.
Doug lived his life on Lake Erie and was an avid sailor. He was a longtime member of North Cape Yacht Club, where he served as commodore. He was a Michigan Wolverine Football fan, holding season tickets for years. Doug appreciated the fine arts, especially the theater, performing in High School, College and with the Village Players. He was a competitive badminton player. He loved gourmet cooking, snow skiing, croquet, and playing backgammon. He was a 50-year member of the Free and Accepted Masons of Ohio, as well as a member of the Rossford Area Jaycees, and the Northern Wood County Chamber of Commerce.
Doug loved and was very proud of his family. He is survived by his children, Jennifer (Tom) Gilmore, Julie (John) Scott, Christopher (Charlotte) Jordan, Catherine Jordan and Jonathon Jordan. Grandchildren, Mallory (Kyle) Kurivial, Stephanie (Robert) Lindsay, and Maggie Gilmore and Great-Grandchildren, Remy Lindsay, Hattie Lindsay and Quinn Kurivial. Also survived by his sister, Karen Jordan, as well as former stepchildren, Kim, Rob, Jenny and Ariel. He is preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Samuel Jordan.
The family will receive guests Friday, September 17, 2021 from 10:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. at Newcomer - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). A Graveside Service will be held Friday at 12:30 p.m. at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
