Douglas A. Smith, 57, of Maumee, passed away peacefully on October 25th, 2011 at St. Luke's Hospital.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Kathleen Gurney; step-father, Charles Gurney; brother, Dale A. Smith. Doug is survived by his brother, Dean A. Smith and sister, Diane A. (Laurel Vitone) Smith.
He graduated from Maumee High School in 1972. Doug worked throughout his life in many of the finest restaurants in town. His last ten years he spent as the primary caretaker of his mother. Doug enjoyed working and spending time in his beautiful garden. He will be greatly missed by his friends and family.
There will be a gathering for friends and family on Saturday, November 19th at 6:30 p.m. at Dale's Bar and Grill, 322 Conant Street in Maumee. Please join to celebrate Doug's life and share memories and stories. Please continue to think of Doug fondly and plant a tree or a flower in his memory.
