Dorothy (Spitler) Whitehead

Dorothy A. "Dot" (Spitler) Whitehead, age 65, of Toledo, passed away October 12, 2013 at Ebeid Hospice Residence surrounded by her loving family. Dot was born October 6, 1948 to Robert Sr. and Ella (Henry) Rice in Toledo. She was an avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers, The Ohio State Buckeyes and Nascar. Dot loved to play cards with her many friends who were her extended family. She loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Dot will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.

In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 21 years, Jerry Whitehead, May 2013; sister-in-law, Diane Rice; and nephew, Robbie Rice. Dot is survived by her loving children, Mike (Tracey), Jeff (Carey), Kevin (Angie), Tim (Rosanna), Dawn (Fred), Danny (Pam), David (Michelle), Roy J. (Lori) and Joe (Sarah); 18 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; brother, Bob (Julie) Rice; sisters, Sandy (Tom) McElfresh and Brenda (Dennis) Holdren; best friend, Debbie (Dave) Malcom and a host of many other dear friends, and many other family members; and her canine companion, Gracie.

The family will receive guests Thursday from 11:00 am - 1:00 pm at Newcomer Funeral Home - NW Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with Funeral Services beginning at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
