Dorothy A. Prouty, age 103, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, June 14, 2009 at the Sunset House. She was born March 26, 1906 to Edward Roy and Cora (Justus) Albright in Rossville, Illinois. Dorothy worked as a secretary at Malibu Pottery in California and volunteered as the secretary at her church. She was a devoted wife, mother, caregiver, family historian and a great seamstress and cook.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her loving husband, J. Donald Prouty, and she passed away one day before the 82nd anniversary of their marriage and brother, Maurice Albright. Dorothy is survived by her children, Dale (Karen) Prouty and Jean Acklin, both of Toledo; grandchildren, Kenneth (Donna) of Maumee, Steven (Linda), of Bowling Green, Scott (Jacqueline) of Troy, Robert of St. Augustine, FL and Jennifer (Brian) Dakin of Charlotte, NC; great-grandchildren, Jonathon, Michael, Matthew, Alex and Zachary.
Dorothy's life will be celebrated in a private inurnment in Potomac, IL. The Newcomer Funeral Home (419-473-0300) assisted the family with professional services.
