Dorothy E. Messmer, age 81 of Toledo passed away Wednesday May 11th, 2005 at her home. She was born May 19th, 1923 to Charles and Annie (Andrews) Bailey in Toledo. She was lovingly known to her family as "Golden Grams, Busha and Dottiedoit". Dorothy was employed with the Toledo City Clerk of Courts for 15 years. She was a 1941 graduate of Libbey High School and was an active committee member in planning the annual reunions. She was a former Girl Scout Leader at St. Agnes and actively involved in the Girl Scout Day Camp. Dorothy and her late husband Richard ran the "Friday Night Teen Dances" at the West Toledo YMCA.
In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her loving husband, Richard Messmer and son, Thomas Messmer. She is survived by her son, Richard (Patti) Messmer of Perrysburg and daughter, Janet Palmison of Toledo; grandchildren, Derek; "special phone pal" Molly; Sam; Alex; Missy; Ali; Annette; Veronica; Teresa and Pete; brother, Charles "Bud" Bailey Jr. and 12 great grandchildren which includes her "special roomie".
The family will receive guests Sunday from 11:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m. in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). A Memorial Service will begin at 12:00 p.m.
