Dorothy Wolfenbarger, age 95, of Matthews, North Carolina, went to be with the Lord, December 30th, 2011, after a brief illness. Her daughter & son-in-law were by her side. Dorothy was born in Elk Valley, Tennessee on October 28th, 1916 to William and Diora Rutherford. She was a member of the Church of God, where she played the piano since she was a girl. Dorothy was employed at Red Wells Roast Beef in Toledo for several years.
She is survived by her daughters, Angelena (James) Carlisle, of Matthews, NC and Kathy Huff, of Toledo, OH; daughter-in-law, Joan Wolfenbarger, of Monroe, MI; Son-in-law, Darl Bordner, of Toledo, OH; sister, Arletta Sowder, of Toledo, OH; grandchildren, Gary Bigelow, Thomas Sheaves, Timothy Sheaves, Wayne Wolfenbarger, Deborah Sykes, Jimmy Wolfenbarger, Tony Ferguson, Larry Carlisle, Chris Carlisle, Tracy Burnett and Barbara Steinhoff; 24 great grandchildren and numerous great-great grandchildren. Also left to cherish Dorothy's memory are many nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, William and Diora Rutherford; husband of 62 years, Raymond Wolfenbarger; sons, Billy Ray and Jimmie Wayne Wolfenbarger; daughters, Barbara Sheaves, Joyce Beatty and Mary Sue Bordner; grandsons, David Carlisle and Curtis Wolfenbarger; sister, Rosetta Lovett; brothers, TJ and James Rutherford.
The family will receive guests Thursday, January 5th, 2012 from 3-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Friday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
