Dorothy M. Lavoy

Dorothy M. LaVoy, age 86, formerly of Crestwood Rd., passed away Saturday, August 15th, 2009 at Perrysburg Care and Rehabilitation Center. She was born November 4th, 1922 to Emil and Florence (May) Berndt in Toledo, Ohio. Dorothy was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother and cherished the time she spent with her family. Dorothy was a longtime member of Hampton Park Christian Church. She was also a member of the Palestine Chapter of the Eastern Star and Daughters of Jephthah.

In addition to her parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by her brother, Robert Berndt; sister, Violet Shipley and son-in-law, Melvin Yingling. She is survived by her loving husband of 58 years, John J. LaVoy; children, Patricia (Rudy) Garcia; Michael LaVoy and Beverly Yingling; 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

The family will receive guests Thursday from 1-4:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) with funeral services beginning at 4:00 p.m.
