Dorothy Lee (Germain) Kandik, beloved mother, loving grandmother and great grandmother, received her angelic wings on April 23, 2020, at the age of 86. Born July 15, 1933 to Evangeline Delamarter and Carl Germain, Dorothy grew up in the Toledo area and was a 1952 Woodward graduate.
She wed Robert Michael Kandik and was a very caring and loving wife and mother to her family. She raised 6 wonderful human beings, which kept her busy, along with her love and talent for crafting. She was a very devoted mother and her children were always the center of her world. Nothing brought her more joy than spending time with her family.
Dorothy also worked for many years as a switchboard operator for the Academy of Medicine. She was a strong, loving woman and will be deeply missed by her loving family and friends.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband, Robert in 2000, her daughter, Cheryl Collins in 2010, and brother, Carl Germain Jr. in 1983.
Left to cherish and embrace her memory and legacy of love are her children, Linda Turvey, Debbie (Charles) Taylor, Vicky (James) Schulty, Michael (Rosemary) Kandik, and Tony Kandik; grandchildren, Tammy, Tracey, Aaron, Charles, Elliot, Niki, Taylor, Robert, John, Joshua, Courtney, and Christopher; 12 great grandchildren; and Princess, her Shih Tzu.
A celebration of life will be held on July 18, 2020 at 1 p.m. at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - Southwest Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, OH 43614 (419-391-1900). Burial will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
