Dorothy Grinter

July 4, 1945 — January 25, 2022

On Tuesday, January 25, 2022 God called our Beloved Dorothy Mae Grinter to receive her heavenly wings.

Dorothy is the tenth child of fourteen children, born to the union of Mr and Mrs. Theoodore and Eular Grinter Sr. in Russellville, Ky. on July 4th, 1945.

She received her early education throughout the Alliance Public Schools. She joined the Second Baptist Church in Alliance where she remained a member. Upon completing school, she resided in Detroit, Michigan and began her career in the medical field.

Dorothy loved extending her hand, love and time to assist some of her family members as their caretakers during their illnesses.

She was married to the late Charles Babb (1/22/) of Alliance in 1967 and they made Detroit their home.

Dorothy has been a long time resident of Toledo for many years. She was employed at Jeep where she retired.

Dorothy was a past member of Gladys Merrill Cantel Lodge ( Elk's ) in Alliance and also a past member of Pride of Composite No. 81 Order of the Eastern Stars, P.H.A. where she enjoyed attending meetings.

All that knew her in Alliance and Toledo would address her as "Aunt Dot or Aunt D.O.T. She was a Diva, very stylish and perky in her own way and spoke her mind with her quick tongue.She enjoyed bowling and gardening and was an avid fan of the Cleveland Browns and the Ohio State Buckeyes.

She also enjoyed traveling. Vacationing twice in Hawaii and the Caribbean. She loved boasting about attending 2 NFL Super Bowls.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, brothers; Theodore (Ann), James (Helen Grinter Smith), Claude (Jean), Willie Grinter. Sisters ; Elenora, Geneva (Lionel), Naomi (James) Edwards, Elizabeth (Harry) Hayes, Minnie (Arthur) LaBlanc and Martine Grinter.

She leaves to cherish her many memories Brother, Steve (Kanisha) , Sisters; Patricia Bailey and Carlis (Earl) Stevens all of Toledo. Her nieces whom she cherished as her own children; (Goddaughter - Che Couch ) Erica (Antonio) Taylor, Gevette Love, Martisha Grinter, C'ne and T'my Butts, Jordyn Penn, Mariah Taylor, Bianca, K'Tyra, Ja'Coiya and K'Nya Grinter and her new baby Parker Harden.
Nephews as her big babies Kai Colbert, Janeil and J'Mai Grinter, Kodi, Kaveh, K'Trez and Kieon Love, Antonio Taylor and her last big bundle of joy and love Tristan Taylor and a host of nieces, nephews, Great, Great and Great nieces and nephews.
Her high school friends since elementary ( Shirley Brunner, Gayle Freeman Chavis, Cheryl Grimes, Sandra Dorsey Walker, Merritt) and her classmates of the Class of 1964 Alliance High School.

The family will receive guests Tuesday, February 8, 2022 from 11:30 am - 12:00 pm at Newcomer Cremations, Funerals & Receptions - SW Chapel, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd. (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Tuesday at 12:00 pm. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Historic Woodlawn Cemetery.
