Dorothy Grace Laskey passed away January 19, 2013. She was born to Arthur and Margaret Miller on January 6, 1923. Dorothy married the love of her life, Robert Laskey, Sr. on September 13, 1947. After his death in 1971 she worked as a nurse at Toledo Hospital on the 9th floor, neuro ward and after retiring she worked at the Sunset House. Dorothy enjoyed traveling anywhere, from Mackinaw to a pub tour of Ireland, or 14 cities in 21 days trip to Europe. She also loved Toledo Rockets Football; attending the home games until she was 88 years old. Dorothy was a big fan of the Detroit Tigers, and Big Ben and the Pittsburgh Steelers. She was a life long opera fan and loved the arts and literature. Dorothy was a 60 year member of Augsburg Lutheran Church. After her retirement she spent her time with her grandkids and great-grandkids, golfing with her friend Eleanor, movies and fine dining with her friend Janet and going for a margarita with her friend Dorothy.
Dorothy leaves behind her three children who she loved unconditionally, Deborah (George) Tucker, Robert (Barb) Laskey and Elizabeth (Rusty)Smotherman; beloved grandchildren, Tamara (Eric) Lemle, Angela (Andy) Pooley, Sarah and Donald Laskey, Laurie Tucker and Mike (Lisa) Tucker; great-grandchildren, Devon and Emily Pooley, Cassidy Grace and Christopher Lemle, Drew and Nikki Buschmann, Aric (Teri) Neeld, Zak and Kaleb Neeld, Lukas, Vince and Laura Tucker, and Matt Lanane; and great-great-grandchildren, Caydin, Riley and Raegan Neeld. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband; and brothers, DeRonda and Don.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday from 2 - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 11:00 a.m. at Augsburg Lutheran Church, 1342 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
