Dorothy M. Cook, age 94, of Toledo, passed away Sunday, April 20, 2008 at Heartland Holly Glenn Nursing Home. She was born on September 8, 1913 to Sylvester and Mabel (Marshall) St. John in Cleveland, Ohio. Dorothy was a longtime member of St. Agnes Catholic Church and St. Catherine of Siena Parish. She loved music, dancing and the outdoors. Dorothy also loved to travel and take day trips. She often enjoyed tending to her african violets, tulips and tiger lilies. Dorothy loved spending time with her family and friends.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Howard Cook and several brothers and sisters. Dorothy is survived by her daughter: Patricia (Kenneth) Miller; grandchildren: Jim (Barbara), Christina (Pat) and Cindy (Kenneth); great-grandchildren: Candace, Angela, David and Kenny; sister: Noreen Cherry; close friend: John (Marie) O'Shea and Nancy (Ken) Carl; and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests on Thursday from 2 - 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) with a Rosary being recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on Friday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, 4555 North Haven, Toledo. Officiating will be Fr. Gary Walters. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
