Dorothy A. "Mom" Hannum, age 83, of Toledo, passed away peacefully, Wednesday, November 21, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo, surrounded by her loving family. She was born on October 8, 1929 to Raymond and Elsie (Frey) Dorn in Toledo. Dorothy started out working at Franklin Elementary and then went to work at St. Charles Hospital and in the 1970's started with St. Luke's where she retired from after 2002. She loved horses and being involved with the 4H groups. Dorothy was a kind, generous, loving soul who never met a stranger; was always willing to help anyone. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, John W. Hannum, Sr.; sons, John W. Jr. and Robert Hannum; sisters, Ida Carter and Ruth Stake; and brothers, Raymond, Clarence and Weldon Dorn. Dorothy is survived by her son, Richard (Florence) Hannum; daughter, Dr. Michal Anne (Dave) Harris; grandchildren, Richard II, Amy, April, Tracey, Brett and Joshua; many great-grandchildren; sisters, Barbara Cline, Margie Cook and Nellie Dorn; and many other relatives and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, November 28, 2012 from 2 – 4:00 & 6 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Thursday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home.
