Doris Mae Hanely

Doris "Dori" Mae Hanely, age 90, resident of Toledo, Ohio, passed away unexpectedly at home on Monday, October 4, 2021. She was born on May 28, 1931, in Bartonville, Illinois, to the late Arthur and Dorothy (Gardner) Stanton.

Dori graduated from Libbey High School, and had worked at Chrysler/Jeep for 23 years, where she retired. After retirement, she would spend her winters in Scottsdale, Arizona and Panama City Beach, Florida. Activities Dori enjoyed most were traveling, going to the casino, pontoon boat rides, and spending time with her family.

Dori lived life to the absolute fullest. She was a very positive person, who always looked at the glass as half full. Her kindness and selflessness were inspirational to all who knew her. She loved hosting family gatherings, especially Thanksgiving and Christmas which she continued to do to this day. Her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren always gathered in her home for a feast of home-cooked dinners with generation after generation enjoying this tradition and building beautiful memories to carry with them. Dori will truly be missed by all who knew her. Her loving, uplifting nature will never be forgotten.

Those left to forever cherish her memory are her children, Rich Baumhower, Bruce (Kim) Baumhower, Cindy (Tom) DeYoung, Cher (Mark) Norman, Candy (Harley) Brown; eight grandchildren, Justin (Jenny), Chad (Kyle), Brooke (Jake), Rob, Brandi (Sean), Lance (Brandy) Lexy, Carli (Phil); ten great grandchildren, Kyle, Braylee, Aiden, Brody, Mason, Brislyn, Emmy, Olivia, Landon, Vivian; and her fur baby, Bella.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her former husband, Richard Baumhower; husband, Jess Hanely; special friend, Reid Werner; and two brothers, Charles Ladd and Melvin Stanton.

Family and friends may gather at the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 West Laskey Road, Toledo, Ohio 43623, on Friday, October 15, 2021, from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm, where her funeral service will take place at 1:00 pm, with Pastor Andy Hill officiating. Burial will take place at Toledo Memorial Park.
