Dorcas Culling

Dorcas Culling, age 88, passed away, Tuesday, October 20, 2009 in Toledo. On December 13, 1920, she was born to William and Augusta (Rapps) Benner in Toledo, Ohio. On May 28, 1949, she married Alvin Culling.

She is survived by her children, Terry Jean (Bob) Wagoner, Vicky (Jacob) Kwiatkowski, Kathy (Mike) Schnapp, and Michael (Marcia) Culling; eight grandchildren, Stacie (nee Wagoner) and Rob Poole, Todd Wagoner, Randall Kwiatkowski and fiancé Ashley Lippert, Laura (nee Kwiatkowski) and Derek Ortega, Stephanie Schnapp, Kristen Schnapp, Joshua Culling, and Matthew Culling; and two great-grandchildren, Caleigh Poole and Sean Ortega; siblings Ernestine 'Butzie' Greanya and JoAnn Boyd; and many nieces and nephews.

Preceding her in death is her husband Alvin Culling; parents, William and Augusta Benner; five brothers, Chester, Vernon, James E., William, and Daniel Benner; and four sisters, Ruth Pawlic, Margaret Young, Mary Pifer, and Helen Benner.

Dorcas was a graduate of DeVilbiss High School, following high school she attended Davis Business College. She later worked for the DeVilbiss Company. Dorcas was a life-long member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church in downtown Toledo and she was also an active member of the Service Sorority, Pi Kappa Tau. She enjoyed entertaining family and friends, singing, homemaking, and going to card club.

The family will receive friends Sunday from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Funeral Services will begin Monday at 10:00 a.m. in the funeral home. Officiating will be Pastor Bob Johnson. Interment will follow in Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
