Donovan Lee Shropshire, 73, of Toledo, Ohio, passed away on Friday, December 4th, 2020. He was born on March 15th, 1947, in Chattanooga Tennessee.
Donovan lived most of his life in Lorain, Ohio until he moved to Toledo in the late 90s. After retirement from the Insurance industry, he worked up until his passing as a security guard. Donovan was an avid Cleveland sports fan, and in later years shared his love of NASCAR with his daughter, Meredith. His grandson, shared a special bond with him over movies, and music, often spending hours in the car together, listening to their favorite songs. His granddaughter, Claudia, and him bonded together over backroad car rides and ice cream runs, sometimes several times a day.
Donovan had a love for the Lord and was blessed to serve as a Deacon and Sunday School teacher for several years. After moving to Toledo, he would often preach at his church, when his pastor was away. Donovan was proud of his service in the US Army, where he served from 1968 - 1971, as a Greeb Beret, stationed in North Carolina, and Panama.
He is preceded in death by his father, Harry Shropshire, and his mother, Nora Shropshire (Jarnigan). He is survived by this daughter, Meredith Yalung, grandson Noah Yalung, and granddaughter, Claudia Kurtzuba, all of Northwest Ohio.
Services will be held on Wednesday, December 9th, 2020 at Lakeview Baptist Church - 591 Ferndale Ave, Vermilion, Ohio 44089 at 12 Noon.
