Donald T. "Don" Momenee, age 76, of Toledo, passed away Saturday, November 3, 2012 at Hospice of Northwest Ohio, Toledo. He was born on May 27, 1936 to Otto and Winona (Ritter) Momenee in Toledo. Don was a man of deep faith. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army, serving his country proudly for 30 years. Don worked as a mechanic and retired from Ackerman's Industrials in Curtice, Ohio. He was the first licensed guide for the Maumee River. Don was an outdoorsman and loved to fish. He was an avid fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Chicago Bears. Don was a very loving, funny man who loved nothing more than the time spent with his family, especially his grandchildren. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sons, Skip and Mike Varwig. Don is survived by his loving wife of 37 years, Ethel "MoMo" Momenee; children, Mitch (Tina) Varwig, Randy P. (Chris) Varwig, Lorrie (Jim) Fox, Tony (Rhonda) Momenee and Theresa (James) Phillips; daughters-in-law, Nancy and Ann Varwig; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Vi Rupert; brother, Tom (Margaret) Momenee; special friend, Frank Rodriguez; and many other relatives and dear friends.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo (419-381-1900). Funeral Services will begin Wednesday at 10:30 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Toledo Memorial Park.
