Donald E. McKibbin, age 88, of Toledo, passed away Wednesday, August 11th, 2010, surrounded by his loving family, at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center. He was born July 18th, 1922 to John and Grace (Gallagher) McKibbin in Leesburg, Indiana. Don was a WWII U.S. Marine veteran serving his country proudly. He retired from L.O.F. after many years of employment. Don was a 40 year member and Past Master of the Rubicon Masonic Lodge and supported the Shriners Hospital for Children. He was also a longtime member of Grace Lutheran Church, serving as an usher. Don enjoyed golfing at Valleywood Golf Course where he was a former member and spending time with his family and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Clifford and Johnny McKibbin and Cleneth and Harvey Green and his sister, Noreene Popovitch. Don is survived by his loving wife of almost 23 years, Ruth E. (Holder) McKibbin; sons, Michael (Sara)Bayes; Thomas (Amey)Bayes and Jeffrey Bayes and daughter, Melissa (Rick) Niedzwiecki; grandchildren, Jenifer (Jody) Palsa; Tim Bayes; Brenda (Mark) Janowiecki; Allison Bayes; Carley Bayes; Lindsey Bayes; Ashley Currier; Amanda Currier; Andrea Currier; Ryan Niedzwiecki and Rachel Niedzwiecki; great grandchildren, Johnny Palsa; Tim Bayes; Isabelle Janowiecki; Grace Janowiecki; Alyssa Barrett; Jordan Barrett; Cameron Currier and 1 on the way. Also surviving are several nieces, nephews, cousins and dear friends.
The family will receive guests Friday from 3-9:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300) and Saturday from 9-10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 4441 Monroe St.
A Masonic Service will begin Friday evening at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral services will begin Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at Grace Lutheran Church, 4441 Monroe Street. Officiating will be Pastor Merlin Jacobs. Interment will follow at Ottawa Hills Memorial Park.
Memorial Contributions may be made to the charity of the Donor's Choice.
