Donald C. Baacke

Donald C. Baacke age 88 of Toledo passed away on May 23, 2024. He was born in Allegheny, PA on October 13, 1935 to Frank and Elsie (Starkey) Baacke.

Don attended Capital University, University of Michigan and Trinity Seminary earning his Master in Social Work and Master of Divinity. He was employed at Lutheran Social Services and Luther Home of Mercy.

Surviving is his loving wife of 47 years, Sharon Baacke; children, Brian (Cindy) Baacke, Cheryl Saenz, Eric (Keri) Baacke Tom Lietaert and Daniel (Sandy) Lietaert; grandchildren, Audrey, Emma, Benjamin, Jeffrey, Jordan and Alyssa and sister, Elsie (Marty) Snyder. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Anmarie Lietaert; brother, Frank Baacke Jr. and sister, Mary Chamberlin and his canine companion, Barney.

Family and friends will be received at the Newcomer Funeral Home (Southwest Chapel), 4752 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo on Wednesday, May 29, 2024 from 2:00-7:00 PM. A service will begin immediately following visitation at 7:00 PM. Interment will be held on Thursday, May 30, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Memorial Park in LaSalle, MI, followed by lunch at Angelo’s Northwood Villa.
