Dixie J. Fritts

Dixie J. Fritts, 81, passed away peacefully on January 7, 2014. She was born on December 27, 1932 to the late Velma and Henry J. Sawicki in Toledo, Ohio.
Dixie retired as a Nurse at Toledo Hospital after 25 years of service. After retiring, she took up painting; she particularly enjoyed painting scenes from nature. Dixie loved spending time by the water, believing it was as close as you could get to heaven on earth. She dedicated herself to her children and grandchildren. Anyone who knew Dixie knows you never left her house hungry!
In addition to her parents, Dixie was preceded in death by her brothers, Pete and Jerry Sawicki. Left to cherish her memory are her children, Kathleen (Jeff) Jones, Melinda "Mindy" (Dan) Sullivan, Jody Ann (Mark) Stoner and Robert (Miccala) Fritts Jr.; sister, Cheri Marks; 9 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren and her beloved dog, Sweetie.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, January 15, 2014 from 2-5:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Viewing will take place from 2-3:00 p.m. The Funeral Service will begin at 5:00 p.m. Private family burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery in Maumee.
The family requests any memorial donations be made to Ebeid Hospice in Sylvania.
