Dianne M. Christie, of Sylvania, Ohio, passed away peacefully on November 5th, 2024, surrounded by her family, after a brief battle with cancer. Dianne was born in Mount Vernon, Ohio, to Harold and Genevieve Mavis, and was the beloved youngest of three children. She is survived her 2 sons, Thomas (Jonelle) Christie of Sylvania and Steven (Christina) Christie of Allen, TX. As well as her sister, Gretchen Turney, of Columbus, and her brother, Richard (Peg) Mavis, of Mount Vernon, Ohio.
Dianne attended Danville High School, where she was a cheerleader and honored as Miss Danville High. Following graduation, she pursued higher education at Otterbein College, Columbus Business University, and The Ohio State University. In 1970, Dianne married Douglas Christie of Upper Arlington, Ohio. The couple lived initially in Lexington, Kentucky, then Vandalia, Ohio, where they welcomed their two sons, Thomas Clarke Christie and Steven Michael Christie. In 1980, they moved to Sidney, Ohio, where Dianne spent the majority of her professional career.
Together with her husband, Dianne worked at FD Lawrence Electric Company, an electrical distribution business in Sidney. The couple eventually acquired the company, renaming it FDL Automation, and managed it until their retirement in 2008. Dianne was a devoted and passionate professional, and her work left a lasting impact on her coworkers and community. Dianne moved to Sylvania, Ohio in 2021 where she established many great friendships and attended her grandchildren's events at Sylvania Southview.
Outside of her career, Dianne found joy in traveling and cherished her time with family and friends. She was a proud grandmother to five grandchildren: Reagan (21), Roman (19), Kaitlyn (18), Kennedy (17), and Ryane (16), each of whom held a special place in her heart. Dianne was an amazing and selfless mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend, she truly left the world a better place.
Dianne was preceded in death by her parents, Genevieve and Harold Mavis, and her husband, Douglas. She will be dearly missed by her family, friends, and all who had the privilege to know her.
Services to honor and celebrate Dianne’s life will be held at on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at Newcomer Funeral Home, located at 3655 King Road, Toledo Ohio 43617, from 12:00 pm - 2:00 pm. A small service will be held at 2:00 pm at the funeral home.
