Diana "Donna" "Benji-Boo" Szilagye, age 94, of Toledo, passed away peacefully Monday, September 6, 2021 at her son's home with loving family by her side. She was born on June 1, 1927 to Peter and Mary (Nowacki) Andrzejewski in Toledo. Diana worked at Mercy Hospital for many years. She also owned and operated Donna's Catering for many polish weddings.
Diana was a longtime member of St. Clement Catholic Church where she was a member of the Alter Rosary Society. She was very involved in church, with the festivals, rummage sales, and volunteering where she could. Diana was also a member of the Catholic War Vets. She enjoyed playing cards, Bingo, and crazy eights with family and friends. Diana loved nothing more than spending time with her family, especially all of her grandchildren. She lived to see five generations, something she was truly proud of. Diana's smile, spirit and caring nature will deeply be missed by all who knew and loved her.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Thomas Keyser and Bernard Czubachowski; sisters, Zita Lesinski, Esther Malak, and Alice Malak; brothers, Edwin and John Andrews and Robert and Peter Andrzejewski. Left to cherish Diana's memory are her loving sons, Dennis Sr. (Kathy) and Mike Keyser; grandchildren, Dennis Jr. (Lindy), and Kimberly Keyser; great-grandchildren, Nate, Thomas (Danielle), Kelsey, Jared, Keith Allen and Keenan; great-great-grandson, Preston; brothers, Daniel and Ziggy (Barb) Andrzejewski; special friends, Marie and Rose; and numerous nieces and nephews.
The family will receive guests on Wednesday, September 15, 2021 from 2 – 8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home – Northwest Chapel, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300). Funeral Mass will begin Thursday, September 16, 2021 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Clement Catholic Church, 3030 Tremainsville Rd., Toledo, OH with gathering in church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery.
The family would like to give a special thank you to all of the staff and caregivers at Hospice of Northwest Ohio for all of the love, care and support given to Diana and our family throughout this journey.
