Dennis "Puma" J. Parker, age 51, of Toledo, passed away Friday, February 17, 2006 in his home. He was born on October 6, 1954 to Russell J. and Shirley (Zerby) Parker, Jr. in Toledo. Dennis was employed with Daimler Chrysler for over 20 years, retiring in 1998. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. Dennis was an avid bowler at Jugs Enterprise and Bowling Lanes, bowling two 300 games. He was a fan of Nascar, enjoying watching his favorite driver, Jeff Gordon. Dennis also enjoyed football and was a huge fan of The Ohio State Buckeyes and the Cleveland Browns.
Dennis was preceded in death by his mother, Shirley Parker, brothers, Russell J. "Rusty" Parker, III, and Gregory K. Parker.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years: Robin (Downey) Parker; step-son: Michael Downey; father; Russell J. "Russ" Parker, Jr.; sisters: Carol Rutkowski and Paula Parker; brother: Paul (Vicki) Parker; sister-in-laws: Patty Diehl and Kathy Parker; father and mother-in-law: Robert and Margaret Downey; and numerous nieces, nephews and friends.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, February 21, 2006 in the Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd., Toledo (419-473-0300) from 2:00 – 8:00 p.m. Funeral Services will begin at 9:15 a.m Wednesday in the funeral home. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 11:00 a.m. in St. Catherine Catholic Church, 4555 North Haven. Officiating will be Father Gary R. Walters.
