Dennis Michael Madlinski, Sr. was born on April 30, 1952 in Toledo, Ohio and passed away peacefully surrounded by his children and grandchildren at ProMedica Ebeid Hospice on Wednesday, January 16, 2019. Dennis spent 32 years as a devoted employee of The Washington Local School District. He married the love of his life in 1971 and they enjoyed 47 wonderful years together. After retiring, they moved to Florida to pursue their lifelong dream of being snowbirds. They enjoyed 11 years spending their winters in the Florida sunshine before moving back home to Ohio in 2017 to be with family. Dennis also went on to start his own home repair business, and spent his Ohio summers continuing his work with the schools, which brought him much happiness.
In his spare time, Dennis enjoyed fishing, boating, deer hunting with his son, riding his trike, camping, traveling and spending time with his beloved family, especially his great-granddaughter Peyton who was his pride and joy. He also enjoyed wildlife and would spend much of his time feeding and watching the deer in his backyard. Dennis was best known for his amazing story telling, his loud belly laugh, and his incredible handy-man abilities.
Dennis is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Peggy Madlinski; children, Tammy (Matt) Conway and Dennis (Lisa) Madlinski Jr.; grandchildren, Nikole (Jake) Nowicki and Kalene Crabtree; great-granddaughter, Peyton Nowicki; sisters, Michalene Cecil and Becky (Dave) Donbrosky; step-siblings, Joe Fisher, Linda Busche and Ronnie Fisher; brother-in-laws, Mike (Debbie) Roberts, Danny (Brenda) Roberts, Roger (Amanda) Reed, and Steve (Sherry) Reed; sister-in-laws, Barb (Bob) Horak and Kim (Richie) Cloninger; as well as many nieces, nephews, and dear friends from both Toledo and Florida.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Michael and Rosalie Madlinski; step-mother, Verna Madlinski; mother-in-law, Evelyn Reed, father-in-laws, Tom Roberts and Roger Reed; brother-in-law Terry Cecil; and step-siblings, Doug Fisher and Leota Neal.
The family will receive guests on Friday, January 18, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. at Newcomer West Sylvania Chapel, 3655 King Road, Toledo (419-392-9500). The Funeral Service will begin at 5:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations go to ProMedica Ebeid Hospice, where Dennis spent his final moments.
