On Monday, June 12th a golden-haired angel unfurled her wings and flew off to heaven. She fought a long and courageous battle, all while knowing that she would ultimately lose the war against pancreatic cancer.
Denise spent her career in sales, making many friends and acquaintances. She was always "chatting people up" as she called it, and she never met a stranger. She was always easily recognized by her distinctive voice and infectious laugh. She enjoyed time spent in her Red Hats group, Towne Club and the St. Charles Auxiliary.
Denise loved spending time with family and friends. She enjoyed reading, dancing, and playing cards & games (as long as she was winning!). Denise had a keen eye for both fashion and home decorating, which played perfectly into her favorite pastime-shopping. Many years were spent and fond memories made at Barton Lake; boating, swimming and socializing. In retirement, Denise loved being a snowbird, living in Florida for the winters. She made many friends there, with whom she enjoyed dancing, listening to live music and dining out at her favorite restaurants on the water. She enjoyed relaxing days at the beach and pool as well. Denise had a passion for traveling. She enjoyed many cruises, Las Vegas and both Northern and Southern California. However, her favorite vacations were Alaska and Hawaii.
Denise was preceded in death by her parents, Burton & Geraldine Paulson. She is survived by her soulmate and loving husband of 26 years, Steve; her best friend and daughter, Julie (Jesse), stepdaughter Sonya (Mike), grandchildren Morgan, Brooke, Connor, Michael, Celeste and Leah.
