Debra Sue Woody, age 60, passed away peacefully in her home on Monday, April 3, 2017, surrounded by her loving children.
Deb, Mom, Debbie Sue, Butterfly, Grandma or GiGi... However you knew her... will be remembered for her caring nature, encouraging words and sense of humor.
Deb was born on October 10, 1956 in Toledo, OH, the daughter of Gene and Pat Watkins. She enjoyed cooking - especially family recipes, gardening, painting and writing. As well as traveling, dancing and music. Above all, spending time with her family was precious to her. Most recently, kayaking with her grandkids and a special trip to Disney World.
She was proud of her education, receiving a Masters from Walden University. She was delighted to be a Nurse for ProMedica, a vocation which she enjoyed for 36 years, a true tribute to her character. Deb had the honor of becoming the first female Executive Director at Paramount Health Care, where she oversaw the Utilization and Case Management Departments. She served proudly as a board member of the Southern Ohio Chapter of Case Management Society of America.
She is preceded in death by her parents; grandparents and sister, Patty Watkins. Deb will be dearly missed by her husband of 13 years, Michael; children, Kristine (Josh Kime) Stultz, Keith (Alex Underwood) Bleim and Katie (Ryan) Schoch; grandchildren, Gage and Jakson Stultz, Keegan Banks, Rylie and Jordan Schoch; sisters, Pam (Robert) Carter and Tami (Tom Jenson) Ormiston and a host of relatives, dear friends and co-workers.
The family will receive guests on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 from 2-8:00 p.m. at Newcomer Funeral Home, 4150 W. Laskey Rd. (419-473-0300). Celebration of Her Life will begin in the funeral home on Wednesday, April 12, 2017 at 10:30 a.m. with Pastor Tim Coley officiating.
The family wishes to give a special thanks to Tracey and Hospice of Northwest Ohio for their excellent care and support.
Those wishing to make memorial contributions are asked to consider Hospice of Northwest Ohio or Toledo Area Humane Society.
A limb has fallen from the family tree.
I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me.
Remember the best times, the laughter, the song.
The good life I lived while I was strong.
Continue my heritage, I'm counting on you.
Keep smiling and surely the sun will shine through.
My mind is at ease, my soul is at rest.
Remembering all, how I truly was blessed.
Continue traditions, no matter how small.
Go on with your life, don't worry about falls
I miss you all dearly, so keep up your chin.
Until the day comes we're together again.
